The teacup has no handle.
When it’s too hot to hold, it’s too hot to drink. When it fits comfortably in your palms, the tea is ready. Your hands are the thermometer.
I design things for a living, which means I’m always trying to remove friction. Make it faster. Eliminate the wait.
But this cup doesn’t care. It forces you to negotiate with heat and time. And the negotiation is the point.
We’re so focused on optimization that we’ve started treating every pause as a problem to solve.
But sometimes the pause is the feature, the signal that keeps us from burning ourselves.
